Currently, MedcoEnergi’s main area of interests are : oil and gas exploration, development, and production; power production; and copper mining. 

MedcoEnergi oil and gas exploration, development and production capabilities, began after acquiring Tesoro’s exploration and production contracts in East Kalimantan, in 1992, and  acquiring 100% shares of PT. Stanvac Indonesia from Exxon and Mobil Oil in 1995.

In 1994, MedcoEnergi went public, listing its shares on the Jakarta Stock Exchange (the present Indonesia Stock Exchange) with ticker symbol MEDC.

After establishing a solid track record in the oil and gas industry, MedcoEnergi established Medco Power Indonesia in 2004 with aim to become electricity provider in Indonesia.

The acquisition of Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (Newmont) marked MedcoEnergi’s commitment to get into mining business.
