Cement Plant PT Semen Gombong
In 1994 Medco Group initiated one of its first business diversification by establishing a cement plant. The concept was, the plant built in Desa Nogoraji, Gombong, Central Java would have the production capacity of 2.5 million tons of cement per year. However, the monetary crisis in 1997 had put a halt on all construction and operation although by that time the construction progress already reached 7.83% consist of technical design and basic infrastructure.
For seeing this potential from the increasing demand of market for cement, in 2011 Medco Group decided to continue the development of this project. Since January 2012 to the 3rd quarter of 2014, Medco Group had managed to achieve several key milestones, especially for the license renewal process such as the AMDAL, which is an environmental permit for constructing a plant.
The result were significant, one of them in terms of mining, it is known that the quality of the limestone reserves is around 70.1 million tons minable within 36 years and the reserve of the clay is around 20 million tons minable within 41 years. Production capacity of 2.5 million tons per year means that in terms of business it is a promising investment.
